Shurtape Technologies, LLC is an American manufacturing company that specializes in the production of adhesive tape, consumer goods, and office supplies. The company was founded in 1996 as the tape division of Shuford Mills, a textile manufacturing company. After experiencing significant growth, the tape division was spun off as a separate company, Shurtape Technologies. Today, both Shurtape Technologies and the remaining textile business are subsidiaries of STM Industries.
Shurtape operates 13 manufacturing facilities worldwide and employs approximately 1,500 people. Its corporate headquarters is located in Hickory, North Carolina, while its subsidiaries, ShurTech Brands and the Engineered Solutions Group, are headquartered in Avon, Ohio, and New Hartford, Connecticut, respectively.
The company traces its origins back to Shuford Mills, which was founded in 1880. In 1955, Shuford Mills established a tape division focused on masking tape. Over time, the tape division expanded its product range and manufacturing capabilities. In 1996, it became an independent company under the name Shurtape Technologies.
Shurtape has a diverse product portfolio that includes more than 650 types of adhesive tape for various industries such as painting, construction, HVAC, and packaging. The company is known for its brands, including Duck Tape, FrogTape, T-Rex tape, and Shurtape P-665. Shurtape’s products are widely used and trusted in the market, with the company ranking second in consumer tape sales behind 3M.
The company’s Engineered Solutions Group consists of Shurtape Specialty Coating and Shurmed, which produce specialty adhesive tapes for industries such as construction, electronics, healthcare, and medical devices.
Shurtape is a family-owned business, owned and operated by the Shuford family. The company’s leadership includes CEO Jim Shuford and Executive Vice President Stephen Shuford.
