The ELK-M1XEP serves as an Ethernet Appliance equipped with an RS-232 Serial Port Interface. Its primary function is to establish a connection between a control unit within the M1 Family and an Ethernet network. Notably, it offers email event notification and employs FIPS compliant encryption algorithms, making it suitable for security-sensitive environments.
Power is supplied to this appliance through an ELK-P1216 12 Volts DC, 1.5 Amp plug-in power supply/adapter. Configuring the connection setup, network password, and related settings can be easily accomplished using the built-in software setup utility within ElkRP.
By default, the M1 Ethernet Interface is set to obtain a dynamic IP address from a DHCP server (e.g., router, cable modem). However, it can also be optionally configured with a static IP address as needed.
